Danielle & John {Burlington Engagement Photographer}

Danielle was referred to us from her best friend Lisa, whom we shot family photos for last summer. We had been trying to plan a spring engagement photo shoot but the weather just did not seem to be co-operating. Patience was our friend and we made alternative dates for nicer weather. We had a great time with Danielle, John and their pooch Bella taking photos at Paletta Mansion. It's always so great when our couples come prepared with different outfits and a great attitude. These two rocked it!

We are so excited to shoot their wedding this summer at the Hamilton Cathedral as well as Le Dome in Oakville. I hope you like the photos I've selected for your sneak peeks.

Can't you just feel the love?

Love you guys.

Could Be.

Think how beautiful the world COULD BE, if everyone just made people smile.
We as humans will do bad things, but do something to our loved ones,
our mother, our spouse, our children...it's insane how the threat of a loved one lost
can put things in perspective.
We hoard and show off all our belongings and bling
but, gun to the head, we say fuck it...take it all....
just give me back my family.

But at our core, if there is no bad, how could you ever appreciate the sweet.
It can't all be good. You would never savour it.
We would all be like the tin man walking around thinking the world is just ordinary.
And fine. Because in order to appreciate the sweet you have to taste the oh so sour.

But think about how beautiful the world COULD BE.

In memory of Tim Bosma

It's been a busy week and lots of blog posts to come. Today is my last day for the special I am running for Tim Bosma's fund. $4800 has been raised for the Tim Bosma fund with the help of you all booking your family photo shoots with us. TODAY is the last day in which my special is running...which is a one hour family photo shoot in the Hamilton area, for $300 (regular price $550), 30 retouched images and a disk of final photos at a location of your choice. Half the proceeds will be donated to the Bosma fund....so $2,400 so far is a nice number to give to the woman who is left with sorrow and no husband. I've emailed their family to let them know we have raised this and also would be interested in donating a photo shoot once (and if ever) they are ready to make new memories. TIm Bosma's family member responded to my email and when the time is right, Sharlene will be notified of everyone's outpouring of love. She knows she is not alone.

Thank you to the people who booked with us, some who want to remain nameless, and also Sharon Hall, Jillian Smith, Sandi Siromasic Rupcich, Irena Hecimovic, Anita Alessandro, Michelle Roberts, Stacey Allen Cillis, Courtney McKenna, Christine AE, Michelle Kharrat, Kate O'Dea, Jaclyn Hickey, Kelly Novotny

Have a great day knowing that YOU made a difference. xo

Here's a snippet of my week in photos and screen shots. Family for family, we will photograph and shoot, as our way of showing Sharlene our support. Always on our minds.

Songs for sobbing.

Warm breezes and the sweet fragrance of hyacinth fill my kitchen with the hypnotic-ness of summer. We drove around with the sun roof off this week. Gardened until our hearts were content. Had friends over for BBQ. I really have nothing to complain about. Especially considering my surroundings and what a local woman is going through; mourning the tragic loss of her husband in front of a nation.

And yet it creeps in. That hauntingly familiar can't-put-my-finger-on-it sadness.

I'm at least relieved that in this generation of social media, I can find a playlist for any kind of mood I so see fit. Sad, cocky, angst, rowdy, seductive. (Thanks, Songza!)

Tonight, it's Songs for Sobbing.

So what? Sometimes you just need a good cry. Sometimes you need the cathartic feeling of being so down, even if it's about nothing at all, to get it all out. To emote. To feel alive.

There's a lot to be sad about. The world is a messed up place. People are disappointing. Shit goes bad daily. You question God. You question your surroundings. You question yourself.

And yet, here we are. Trudging along with each other, side by side, trying to make sense of it all.

I relish in this time. Because it makes me create. Forces me to dig deep and understand what is affecting me and allows me to appreciate the sweet when I have tasted the oh so sour.

So if you're feeling, really feel. Allow it to consume you so you can learn, grow and be reminded that you're human. In the fucked up world that seems anything but.

Better together. {Hamilton Maternity Photographer}

We met Brian at our destination wedding in Costa Rica last month. It was only on the last day that I realized he didn't know anyone on the trip except for the groom's friend. He was such a great guy and blended in with the group so well that I assumed they were all lifelong friends. Shauna was 7 months pregnant and encouraged him to go on the trip and have a good time. I knew she had to be a cool wife. And she is. We got together with them last night and she admitted to being curious as to who we were because Brian came home and chatted about some new friends he had made.

Our evening started out last night at their lovely Waterdown home where we took some photos indoors and of their beloved pooch Bogey. We then headed to Webster's Falls where, as if by magic we had the entire park to ourselves at golden hour. We went back to their home until late last night for some pizza and drinks and chatted about love and life.

Like everyone, they have had their ups and downs and realized they were better off together then apart. And baby Kensington will be the luckiest and most beautiful baby to have these two as parents.

We hope you enjoy your sneak peeks. Looking forward to many gatherings together this summer!

Love,

Wendy
