A promo video...for Wendy Alana Photography

I met Francesco of FDB Studios when four of us shot Vanessa & Tom's Old Hollywood wedding
at The Eglinton Grand. He so graciously spent some time with us over the past couple of months to put together this promo video and I think he did a great job of capturing who I am, who we are and what it is that we do. I asked him if he could incorporate this song by Graffiti6 as I'm in love with it.

So, here it is....us, with sound.

Sunshine & Sand

There is rarely time for personal photos or projects these days but I brought my new D800 to the cottage with some friends and loved these snaps I got. The beach at Grand Bend was completely empty and ours for the day. Sunshine & sand are two of my favourite things.

The Google Queen

Lesley contacted me last year through a wedding I second shot at White Oaks resort. Her connection said something about Wendy Photography, so Lesley googled until she found me. There was no "Alana" in her search which surprised me that she even tracked me down on the massive world wide web, but Les referred herself as "The Google Queen." You'll remember this gorgeous couple from their photos we shot at Matt's parents' charming farmhouse in Orillia.

As part of our wedding packages, we have the bride and groom over approximately two weeks before their wedding to finalize details and enjoy some downtime with a beautiful dinner and some drinks. Lesley and Matt live out of town so they arrived on Friday evening where the four of us caught up on the wedding festivities, life and the life in between. The air was so warm and we were able to enjoy our time in the backyard under the gazebo.

3am rolled around quickly and we all turned in for the night. When we awoke, we mulled wedding day details over Michael's Eggs Benedict and then went for a walk behind our house. We are so blessed to spend the weekend with these two, including their Niagara on the lake wedding rehearsal, wedding day and after wedding wine tour. They so very generously put us up in the beautiful White Oaks and we couldn't be more thrilled to spend the weekend with them. Trust me, this wedding will be like something out of a high fashion bridal magazine. We cannot wait to see what we capture.

And because everything is better with a picture, here is a photo of our beautiful couple in the morning, sans makeup, sans proper sleep and looking as gorgeous as ever.

See you in June lovelies!

Jen & Casey......simply meant to be.

They say there is always a first for everything. Jen was that example when she contacted me. She explained that she was not yet engaged but wanted to book me and that her fiance would just have to understand. I love a girl who knows what she wants and does not waste time doing such! We are shooting her sister's wedding in a few weeks and I could not be happier to have been introduced to these two amazing couples. When I finally meet Jen and Lesley's mom, I really would like to tell her what an absolutely incredible job she did raising two of the most beautiful and kind women I have ever had the privilege of meeting, never mind documenting the most important day of their lives.

Jen met Casey through her sister's fiance Matt. They are both chiropractors and Jen and Les both work in the cancer clinic. When I saw them walking across Sunnyside bridge yesterday hand in hand, I smiled at Michael and quickly let him know we were in for a great day. The weather was insane! Overcast and warm one minute, windy and cool the next, sunny and then raindrops the very next. Jen and Casey were a dream to work with.

The way he looks at her is with such adoration and the way she looks at him is how it is supposed to be when you are in love. Every time I was thinking of where to position them, they had magically intertwined in a way that was perfect to photograph; not overstaged, not posed, but just two people....in love.

Jen and Casey lived in the heart of the city for several years so they wanted some photos in the Distillery district. They thought of everything, including wine and four wine glasses for us to all share. As we took a wee break and toasted to their upcoming marriage, I stopped for a moment and breathed it all in. The unusual warm May air. The gorgeous moody lighting. This amazing couple who so generously shared their story with us. And I rendered myself truly blessed.

Their first date was at Mill Street Pub so as the sun dipped below the horizon, we all went in and shared some dinner and lager, and toasted to the upcoming festivities.

Jen and Casey, it is an unbelievable honour to have been chosen to capture this exciting time in your lives. May you always be as happy and in love as you are now. We shall see you in a few weeks!

Love,

Wendy

Courtney {Maternity}

You may remember Courtney from the fall shoot that we did with her family. She had a kitchen straight off the pages of a magazine and she had a little baking setup with her daughter. Courtney and her family have since moved into a brand new Binbrook home and are now expecting their miracle #2. I envisioned a dusk shoot and was hoping the weather would hold out. The sun peaked right at the time we needed it to and we were able to take full advantage of that dreamy and golden light. We can't wait to meet the new addition to their family.

Love,

Wendy
